ArtSpace Exhibition Space|Blending the Physical and the Digital
ArtSpace is a real-world exhibition venue. We collaborated on with Sunway Express Co., Ltd. Using Matterport to capture the space in high detail, and combining it with our MiraSpace system (built on the same tech foundation as MiraVenue), we turned what was once a purely on-site experience into a virtual exhibition that anyone can explore online—anytime, from anywhere.
This approach not only expands accessibility but also offers powerful tools for curation, international collaboration, and long-term archiving.
What are the benefits of a virtual exhibition?
🟢 Venue managers can independently edit artwork placements and texts through the backend—no need for a developer. When exhibits change, updates can be made quickly and easily, reducing maintenance costs.
🟢 Once online, the exhibition is no longer limited by time or location, allowing global audiences to visit freely.
🟢 Exhibitions can be archived long-term, even after the physical event ends, serving as part of an artist’s portfolio, educational content, or historical record.
🟢 For international collaborators or artists, MiraSpace enables them to preview layouts and visitor flow remotely, saving both time and travel.
🟢 The virtual gallery allows presentation effects that aren’t feasible in physical space—such as floating artworks, defying gravity, or integrating lighting and visual effects to enhance the visitor experience.
What did we discover during the collaboration?
Although both teams agreed on the value of virtual exhibitions from the start, the process revealed new insights and creative opportunities:
🌟 Rethinking spatial flow in a digital environment
In physical exhibitions, audiences are guided by light, layout, and crowd movement. In a virtual space, visitors navigate freely, and their attention is restructured.
This led us and the curatorial team to rethink:
Which artworks need clearer guidance?
Where should audio guides be placed?
Which walls might need more visual cues?
These small shifts created new ways to communicate the curatorial intent in a digital context.
🌟 Floating artworks: an unexpected highlight
For one of the featured pieces, we proposed letting it float in mid-air, creating a striking, gravity-defying moment that became a focal point of the exhibition.
This kind of effect would be difficult or impossible to replicate in a physical setting—but in MiraSpace, it became a creative breakthrough, inspiring future concepts for experimental, “impossible” galleries.
An Exhibition That Lasts Beyond Its Physical Lifespan
The greatest takeaway from this project was how it helped the ArtSpace team redefine the lifespan of an exhibition. It no longer ends when the physical space closes—instead, it becomes a living archive that can be shared, revisited, and reimagined.
We believe MiraSpace isn’t here to replace physical exhibitions, but to give each exhibition a “second venue”—one that connects with new audiences across time and borders.
If you’re managing an exhibition space and want your show to go further, last longer, and simplify international collaboration, we’d love to talk.
Because we believe great exhibitions deserve to be seen longer—and by more people.
